Controlling South Korean Pastor Discourages Personal Bible Reading

The false teacher is afraid that his lies will be exposed by the light of Scripture

The less we read the Word of God, the less we desire to read it

An unbeliever can find Jesus by reading God's Word without ever hearing a sermon

A commitment to read the Bible is an essential part of the commitment to serve the Lord

You will be blessed if Scripture is a part of your life day in and day out

In reading God's Word, you hear God's voice and give the Holy Spirit the chance to do His work in you
....

The pastor of the unhealthy South Korean church that I attend actually discourages personal Bible reading.

He said - "You must act on the Word of God, not just listen to it."

The pastor is right and he is wrong.

He is right when he says that we must apply  the Word of God to our lives and live it out.

If he is discouraging us from personal Bible reading
I believe he is wrong in doing that.

The Importance of Reading the Bible

from Bible Knowledge.com - The Bible tells us that God wants to sanctify us and transform us into the express image of His Son Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that this sanctification-transformation process is actually done by the Holy Spirit. However, the Holy Spirit will not start this transformation process in you until He has something to work with – and that something is knowledge – and that knowledge can only be obtained from the Bible.
from Grace Fellowship Church - There are no "quick-fixes" to sanctification.
We need to use the tools God has given us to be sanctified.
They are Bible reading and meditation (Ps 1:2Jn 17:17); Prayer (Ep 6:18); Worship (Ep 5:18-20);Fellowship (He 10:24-25); Self-control (Titus 1:8) and even Evangelizing (Mt 28:19-20).
